potty training
Our littlest, baby Bella, has decided it is time to potty train. The cool thing is that she has decided this all on her own…we didn’t have to force it. The bad thing is that sometimes she forgets that she’s decided to start potty training and the floor becomes her potty chair! (side note: wood floors come in handy at this stage in your child’s life).
Bella’s successes and failures remind me of our walk with God. Often we decide that we are going to “get serious” and we start reading our Bibles regularly or praying more or maybe we sign up for a mission trip. All great things, for sure. But, before long we are going on the floor again…(okay, wierd analogy). But, you get the point. We slip up or backslide as Christians like to call it. And when we do that, we beat ourselves up and promise that we’ll do better next time.
The great news is that God cares a lot more about who we are than what we do. He’s alread judged the world and through Jesus and set us free from life’s condemnation. (Romans 8:1) We keep trying to escape condemnation that doesn’t exist! How crazy is that. My hope is that we all can rest knowing that in Jesus our “judgement” is complete and that we are free. In Christ you are free. (Galatians 5:1) Let’s live like it.
